Origin, the comics by era, abilities and recorded feats.

Origin

Joaquín Torres was born in Mexico and was six when he crossed into the United States with his mother and grandmother, growing up in Sonoita, Arizona, and finishing high school on the honor roll. He never forgot the people still trying to make the crossing, and he made a habit of leaving water, food and medicine along the border for them. That habit put him in the path of the Sons of the Serpent, who were snatching people at the border and delivering them to the rogue scientist Karl Malus for experiments.

When Joaquín vanished, his grandmother Mariana turned to Sam Wilson, then serving as Captain America. Sam tracked the trail to Malus's base in New York and found that Joaquín had been rebuilt into a human-falcon hybrid using DNA from Redwing, Sam's own bird partner. Malus's other subjects changed back once rescued; Joaquín did not. Claire Temple worked out why: Redwing carried a vampiric strain, and it had left Joaquín with a healing factor that kept the transformation locked in place.

The change also tied him into Redwing's psychic link with Sam. When Serpent Society thugs hurled Captain America off a building, Joaquín heard the alarm through that link and caught him in mid-air, then held his own against the Serpents with Sam feeding him moves through Redwing. Afterward he took up the Falcon name as Cap's partner. He first appeared only in a photograph in issue #1 (December 2015), made his full debut in #3 (January 2016) and wore the Falcon identity from #6 (April 2016); the wiki credits Nick Spencer and Daniel Acuña as his creators.12345

The record, by era

  1. 2015–2016
A New Falcon Takes Flight Origin

Kidnapped by the Sons of the Serpent and remade by Karl Malus with Redwing's DNA, Joaquín became a permanent human-falcon hybrid with wings grown from his arms and a healing factor inherited from Redwing's vampiric strain. Sharing Redwing's mental link with Sam Wilson, he saved Captain America from a deadly fall and helped beat the Serpent Society. By the end of the opening arc he had claimed the Falcon name as Sam's partner.1675

    Captain America's Partner Sidekick

Joaquín stayed at Sam's side through the rest of Captain America: Sam Wilson. One story in issue #17 shows him rescuing Ariella Conner, a divisive political figure, when she is attacked during a university speech. Conner had previously called for him to be deported, and she promptly spun the rescue to serve her own agenda.18
